Payment Channel Aggregation

"A unified access point connecting POS terminals, ATMs, and web channels into a single, cohesive payment platform."

Payment Channel Aggregation
About This Service

Payment Channel Aggregation

The Payment Channel Aggregation service is the backbone of Gamswitch's electronic payments infrastructure. Rather than requiring merchants and financial institutions to integrate with each payment channel independently, Gamswitch acts as the central aggregation point routing transactions from POS terminals, ATMs, and web-based payment interfaces through a single, standardised connection.

This service supports a full range of payment instruments including debit cards, mobile wallets, and instant transfers. Transactions are intelligently routed based on channel type, institution, and transaction value, ensuring speed, reliability, and cost efficiency at every step.

For Digital Financial Service Providers, this means reduced integration complexity and lower operational overhead. For merchants, it means broader payment acceptance without the burden of managing multiple technical integrations. Gamswitch handles the connectivity, compliance, and routing so businesses can focus on serving their customers.
The Process

How It Works

A step-by-step overview of how this service operates.

01

Institution Connects to Gamswitch

The member bank establishes a secure network connection to the Gamswitch switch via a leased line or VPN, and completes technical certification testing.

02

Transaction Initiated

A customer initiates a transfer at their bank's branch, app, or USSD channel. The bank sends a transaction request message to Gamswitch.

03

Switch Routes the Message

Gamswitch receives the request, validates it, and routes it to the destination bank in real time using ISO 8583 messaging.

04

Authorization & Response

The destination bank authorizes the credit and sends a response back through the switch to the originating bank, completing the transaction.

05

Settlement at End of Day

Gamswitch calculates multilateral net positions for all member banks and submits settlement instructions to the Central Bank of The Gambia.

Got Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

Interbank transfers processed through Gamswitch are completed in real time — typically within a few seconds. Funds are available to the recipient almost immediately after the sending bank submits the transaction.

Transaction limits are set by each member bank in accordance with Central Bank of The Gambia guidelines. For high-value transactions exceeding certain thresholds, RTGS may be recommended. Please check with your bank for specific limits.

If a transaction cannot be completed, Gamswitch sends an automated decline response to the originating bank, which notifies the customer. Any funds debited are automatically reversed within the standard reversal timeframe.

Banks connect to Gamswitch by establishing a secure network connection and completing a technical certification process. Our Business Development team guides new members through the entire onboarding process. Contact us to begin.
