"A unified access point connecting POS terminals, ATMs, and web channels into a single, cohesive payment platform."
A step-by-step overview of how this service operates.
The member bank establishes a secure network connection to the Gamswitch switch via a leased line or VPN, and completes technical certification testing.
A customer initiates a transfer at their bank's branch, app, or USSD channel. The bank sends a transaction request message to Gamswitch.
Gamswitch receives the request, validates it, and routes it to the destination bank in real time using ISO 8583 messaging.
The destination bank authorizes the credit and sends a response back through the switch to the originating bank, completing the transaction.
Gamswitch calculates multilateral net positions for all member banks and submits settlement instructions to the Central Bank of The Gambia.
The capabilities that make this service powerful and reliable.
Process interbank credit and debit transfers instantly, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and public holidays.
Single connection point for all licensed commercial banks in The Gambia, eliminating bilateral integration complexity.
Live dashboard for member banks to monitor transaction flows, volumes, and settlement positions in real time.
Structured dispute management workflow with SLA-driven resolution timelines and automated chargeback processing.
Full compliance with the ISO 8583 financial transaction message standard, ensuring interoperability with international systems.
Automated multilateral net settlement at end of day, reducing liquidity requirements for member banks.
Interbank transfers processed through Gamswitch are completed in real time — typically within a few seconds. Funds are available to the recipient almost immediately after the sending bank submits the transaction.
Transaction limits are set by each member bank in accordance with Central Bank of The Gambia guidelines. For high-value transactions exceeding certain thresholds, RTGS may be recommended. Please check with your bank for specific limits.
If a transaction cannot be completed, Gamswitch sends an automated decline response to the originating bank, which notifies the customer. Any funds debited are automatically reversed within the standard reversal timeframe.
Banks connect to Gamswitch by establishing a secure network connection and completing a technical certification process. Our Business Development team guides new members through the entire onboarding process. Contact us to begin.
