Gamswitch is currently the only Electronic Payment Switch in The Gambia that operates on a National scale.It is the National Payment Switch for The Gambia.
Gamswitch provides a robust platform for the full online integration of all commercial banks, financial institutions, billing systems, international payment gateways and electronic channels such as ATMs, POS, Web and Mobile. Gamswitch also provides online daily settlement of all participants on its network via the Central Bank RTGS system.
One of the driving forces behind Gamswitch is to achieve online system integration with other parties in the payment ecosystem including Mobile payment operators, Retailers, Service providers, Government agencies and more.

Our Concept
Gamswitch as a National Payment Switch aims to create an online network for financial services and payments across The Gambia, especially (but not exclusively) for retail type transactions. It provides a gateway for individuals or organizations that need online access to their funds or need to make payments/ transfers across banks or need to receive/collect bills from customers.
It acts as an aggregator for all the parties involved in an online transaction; from the initiator (payer) to the recipient (payee).
Gamswitch does this on a scale and scope that makes electronic payment a viable alternative to the traditional form of transacting with physical cash.
A significant advantage for Gamswitch is the connectivity with all commercial banks in The Gambia. It is also in Gamswitch’s agenda to achieve online system integration with other parties in the payment ecosystem including Mobile payment operators, Retailers, Service providers, Schools, Money Transfer Operators, Utility companies, Government agencies and more.
Our Vision
As previously mentioned, Gamswitch’s vision is to transform retail payments in The Gambia. Gamswitch has already recorded milestone achievement with ATM Cash withdrawals and Balance Inquiries, for bank customers.
Today, Gamswitch has made it possible for customers of the commercial banks to visit virtually any ATM in the country to check their account balance and to access their funds. This means that account
holders (with debit cards) are no longer constrained by proximity or availability of their bank ATMs, and can be served by other bank ATMs as well.
Gamswitch’s next mission is to help transform the payment of bills and services. This proposal to NAWEC will be a major step towards achieving this vision. A vision of a payment ecosystem where “Anyone” can use “Any means”, “Anywhere” to pay “Any bill”.
Gamswitch was established as a collaborative initiative to strengthen the digital payment infrastructure in The Gambia.
It was initially established through a partnership between Interswitch Limited (Nigeria), Trust Bank Limited, The Central Bank of The Gambia (CBG), Unique Solutions, and other commercial banks in The Gambia, operating under the Banker's Association.
As of 2024, Gamswitch is now fully owned by the Central Bank of The Gambia (CBG), cementing its role as the sovereign national payment infrastructure for all Gambians.
